Melody Martin
B.A., LL.B, M.S.W., LL.M

Melody grew up in British
Columbia and has made her home in the Fraser Valley for several
years. She holds four university degrees and is the winner of
many academic honours. She began her studies with a Bachelor of
Arts degree from Queen's University, in Kingston, Ontario and
went on to become the first graduate of the University of
Toronto's combined LL.B./M.S.W. program, receiving her Bachelor
of Laws and Master's of Social Work degrees in 1994. She
studied at Harvard Law School and received a Master's degree in
Law (LL.M.), upon completion of which she clerked at the Supreme
Court of Canada for the Honourable Mr. Justice Iacobucci
(ret.). She completed articles with a criminal law firm in
Vancouver and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1997.
Melody has considerable
court experience. She developed expertise in her early years of
practice as an agent for the Attorney General of Canada in
Department of Justice prosecutions, appearing frequently in
provincial courts throughout the Fraser Valley. In the past
several years her practice has focused on personal injury law,
and she has conducted cases at the provincial and Supreme Court
levels, in addition to negotiating settlements and representing
clients at mediation. She is skilled in both the courtroom side
and the academic side of law. Melody's practice areas include
Plaintiff personal injury, insurance defence, general
litigation, administrative law and appeals.
